Creating and Maintaining a Comprehensive Adult Citizenship Education Program

Course Description

(6 hours, F2F) Through this course, offered by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), you will learn about: the process of developing a comprehensive adult citizenship curriculum, syllabi and lesson plans; methods to create, choose and adapt student-centered activities; strategies to improve English and civics skills and knowledge to prepare students for the naturalization interview and test; thematic teaching; and professional development opportunities for adult citizenship teachers. You will obtain new instructional techniques, as well as information on available USCIS resources.

(8 hours, online) Required for new hires. This 8 – 10 hour, five-week facilitated course is designed for those instructors new to Adult Education.  The GED® test online course will provide an overview of the GED® test and how to help the student through the testing process.
